Anderson pitched the A’s to an 11-4 win over the Chicago Cubs in interleague play and also helped his own cause by getting two hits (both singles) in three at-bats on the day. After the game, the 31-year-old revealed the mindset that helped lead to his success in the batter’s box. “The thought process was ‘Don’t look like an idiot,’ and I end up getting two hits,” said Anderson, per Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. The veteran also joked about his much rougher third at-bat, a swinging strikeout on just four pitches. “The third one was like, ‘All right, I might try to hit one hard,’ and I swung at one over my head,” he continued.
